Geena DavisActress Geena Davis was recently was seen wearing  Le Vian diamond earrings and a Pasquale Bruni diamond ring to the “Suffragette” premiere at the Opening Night Gala during the BFI London Film Festival.  The gala was held at the Odeon Leicester Square on October 7, 2015 in London, England.

Hour Detroit’s Best Dressed Head to the Fillmore

Marissa Van NoySure to be an unforgettable evening of glamour and style, Hour Detroit’s annual Best Dressed Fashion Show, presented by Somerset Collection, will be held at the Fillmore Detroit from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, benefiting the DIA Founders Junior Council.

Emceed by Local 4 Style Editor Jon Jordan, the event will celebrate the winners of Hour Detroit’s Best Dressed editorial feature. Guests will rub elbows with metro Detroit’s most fashionable while enjoying an unforgettable evening, including a champagne reception, an exclusive Neiman Marcus runway fashion show previewing this fall’s most anticipated trends, live music by Jared Sykes and DJ Prevu and an official after party.

The schedule for the evening will feature:

Lady Gaga Goes Classic?

Lady Gaga EmmysLady Gaga’s red carpet appearances usually end up leaving us shocked for days. From meat dresses to egg carriages, it’s no secret her red carpet ensembles have been quite distinctive. But that wasn’t the case during the Emmy Awards.  Gaga showed up in a black one-shouldered Brandon Maxwell creation with timeless make up and hair and minimal jewelry. Maya Lin to Create a Memorable Installation for Phillip Lim’s NYFW Spring 2016 Show

Phillip LimPhillip Lim will host his 10th anniversary show on September 14th and plans to collaborate with the artist behind the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington, D.C., Maya Lin. Lin rose to fame at a young age of 21  back in 1982 when she won a competition to design the Vietnam Veterans Memorial while an undergraduate at Yale University. Ms. Lin now, with much experience behind her, has moved well beyond that early honor to become an environmental advocate.

Her video “Unchopping a Tree,” about deforestation, was aired at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen back in 2009. Her short films about mass extinction aired on the MTV HD screen in Times Square on Earth Day in 2010. And,  a film about her life and work, “Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision,” won best documentary at the 1995 Academy Awards.

Maya LinFor Phillip Lim’s New York Fashion Week Spring 2016 show, she will be creating a memorable installation for the space. Recently, Lim posted a panoramic view on Instagram displaying Maya Lin’s earthwork, “Wavefield,” located at the Storm King Art Center in the city of Mountainville, New York. Obviously this was a photo proving his proudness behind the collaboration.  As well all know, inventive sets can create extra excitement and an exciting buzz during fashion week. Designers and their creative teams almost always try to out-do their presentations from the year before and strive to provide an outside-of-the-box decorated space for their shows.  Take, for example, Elie Tahari’s fall 2015 presentation.  The presentation featured models placed on a platform which revolved and transformed into a miniature forest. Designer shows like Marc Jacobs, Chanel and Betsey Johnson all create buzz during New York Fashion Week but obviously they’re not the only ones.  If you want to play on the same playground, one obviously needs to fit in.  But Lim, just might be leading the cool kids this year with a little help from Maya Lin.

Lim’s show title, “Stop and Smell the Flowers,” is going to be one to remember.  Take it from us.  The show hasn’t even started yet and we’re already talking about it!

TV personality and model Irene Kim, artist Phoebe Collings-James, director Sandra Winther, model/musician Staz Lindes and actress Fabianne Therese are all styled in their own aesthetics. DJ Will Power, ballet dancer Joshua Thew, community creative Olu Alege, and radiologist/home improvement blogger Chris Nicholas give off a masculine take on the selected theme. It’s a fun collaboration because ALDO showcases what it is that inspires their personal style.

“Inspiration Is Everywhere” is an evolution of the work ALDO has been focused on over the past few seasons. ALDO likes to empower their customers to express themselves and to wear their inspiration proudly. To reflect this collaboration, the campaign is presented as a diptych: two side-by-side images that play off each other visually and conceptually,” explains Douglas Bensadoun, Chief Creative Officer for ALDO. “On one side, there’s an introspective and impassioned portrait by Matteo Montanari, showcasing the individual and their personal style. On the other, a still life photographed by Bela Borsodi, playfully irreverent and abstract, bringing their inspirations to life. Together they work in harmony, giving the full story of the individual and what it is that inspires them.”

Yasiel Puig Stars in Starter Ad Campaign

Yasiel PuigLos Angeles Dodger, Yasiel Puig has been off the field for some time now with a tight hamstring, but he’s still able to think about his fashion sense.  Puig has been doing shoots for the recent Starter ad campaign.  Starter is an athletic clothing brand that was established in 1971.

Puig wears a classical-looking royal blue Dodger jacket for the clothing line’s “Jackets Required” campaign which will run approximately $80.

When WWD asked the 24 yr old what type of clothes he wore growing up in Cuba, this was his reply,  “I didn’t have clothes,” describing his personal style as a child as “barefoot and no clothes.”

Puig once played for the Cuban national baseball team in the 2008 World Junior Baseball Championship, winning a bronze medal. There is no report as of yet when he will fully recover to play this season.

Rihanna is Now a Dior Girl

Rihanna/DiorWe’ve all seen Rihanna in photos sitting in the front row of her favorite Dior shows but the time has come when she becomes a Dior girl herself.  Back in March, an announcement was made the famous diva would star in the fourth installment of Dior’s “Secret Garden” campaign which was shot by Steven Klein in Versailles.  Rumor has it she’s been having a hard time keeping this a secret because she is extremely excited to be a part of such a wonderful brand, not to mention her favorite designer’s ad campaign.

Now, a few months later, her ads have been revealed and we are completely addicted to what we’ve seen so far!  Her ads bring glamour to the brand and are absolutely stunning. The print and video ads show the star in a fantasy-like sequence, wandering around the infamous palace and walking up the enchanted staircase, all while unbelievably gorgeous in Dior clothes and accessories.

Rihanna joins actresses Jennifer Lawrence, Marion Cotillard and Natalie Portman – who are all current faces of the Dior collection but she is the first black woman to front a Dior campaign.
