Shinola Hotel Coming to Downtown Detroit

Detroit Brand Shinola Brings Boutique Hotel to Detroit

Shinola recently announced plans for the first Detroit Shinola Hotel, located at 1400 Woodward Avenue. The location is an eight-story building that sits across the street from Hudson’s site. Both projects belong to Bedrock Real Estate.

Back in 2013, rumors around Metro-Detroit started to spread that Dan Gilbert and Bedrock bought the building. People were excited of the chatter because to some, Gilbert is known as the man that is responsible for bringing the city of Detroit back.  The once hardware store will soon be a 130+ room boutique hotel providing a meeting place, bars, shops, and new restaurants.

Another well-known name in Michigan, Detroit-based Kraemer Design Group, is the architect for the project. The Shinola Hotel will feature Detroit-inspired designs from Gachot Studios and the food and beverage program will be managed by NoHo Hospitality Group from New York.

The Hotel is anticipated to open in Fall 2018. We’re being told, the idea is to make a comfortable and impressive stay to business travelers, tourists, and Michigan residents.
Tell us. Are you excited to see the new hotel come together?  We want your opinion.
