Cynthia LaMaide designs worn by Jennifer Aniston in Wanderlust

Designer and stylist, Cynthia LaMaide has recently contributed to the big screen.  She has designed several pieces worn by actress, Jennifer Aniston and her co-stars in the upcoming film Wanderlust. The film is set to open in February 2012 and is about a couple moving to a simpler life. Cynthia’s clothing transformed Aniston’s look to a natural and organic one with a simplistic feel.

The clothing worn by Aniston during the movie are all hand-made and were designed and created by LaMaide in her Michigan workroom.  During the Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair in 2010, costume designer Debra McGuire who has been nominated for two prime time Emmys and known for her work in Knocked Up, Scream 4 and 40 Year Old Virgin, saw Cynthia’s clothing and instantly recognized her designs as ideal for Aniston’s hippie and quirky character in Wanderlust. From there, the relationship began.

LaMaide lives and works in an emerging arts area in Michigan and is known for creating one of a kind clothing with natural fibers, combining fiber art techniques such as felting, knitting, weaving and painting. For the film, Cynthia painted, felted and knit dresses, tops, skirts and scarves.

This past fall, Cynthia exhibited at Prêt a Porter Paris, So Ethic Expo. It was a showcase for fashion labels committed to sustainable design and eco-responsibility.  Additionally, LaMaide has designed for Lenny Kravitz and Kate Moss, among several other artists including models, actors and singers.
